I’m often asked about my beauty regimen from what kind of facial wash products I use to keep my acne and blemishes away to what brand of makeup I wear and how do I get my teeth “so white.” Just to name a few.
To me, my beauty regimen is quite simple. I only use products that have proven to work for me. Nothing too expensive and not an overload of items because it doesn’t take much. During my teen years, I struggled with acne on my T-zone (forehead and nose area) I would use everything from proactive to clean and clear cleanser but after months of using the products, it’d stop working, then I was back to square one. It’s been years (thank God) since I’ve had any major breakouts, although I use St. Ives Apricot scrub now, I believe I grew out of the acne stage.
So let’s get started with the kind of beauty products I use on a daily.
St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish Control. Steps: Every Morning & every other night, I moisten my face with water. Next, I dispense the product onto my fingertips and massage over my face. In the morning, I would leave the scrub on for about five minutes while looking for my outfit of the day. Lastly, rinse thoroughly and I’m done.
Another product that’s apart of my beauty regimen is Crest Products. I’ve been using the White Strips since 2005 (when they were $15.00 now they’re close to $40 ;(. I also use the toothpaste and the mouthwash with the strips. I’m addicted to the results and it didn’t take long to see results while using the strips. When I started, I would use the whiting strips twice a day while in the shower or doing homework and I saw results immediately. Nowadays, I don’t have to use the strips as much but every morning I use the toothpaste and mouthwash. It’s the BEST and I won’t try any other product.
These are lifesavers!! I have oily skin and this New Orléans heat and humility doesn’t make it any better. I take them along with me in my necessity pouch and I seriously can’t leave home without them. It doesn’t smear my makeup and it keeps the oil away for a while. It’s packaged with 50 sheets but you can use one at least two times before discarding.
“Maybe she’s born with it, maybe its Maybelline.” I am absolutely in love with this foundation. I’ve been using it for about five years now and I don’t see myself switching in the future (unless they take it off the market). I first learned about Maybelline’s Dream Mousse Foundation while reading one of my favorite magazines; People Style Watch beauty section. During that time, I was searching for a new foundation that wouldn’t clog up my pores or break out my skin and this airbrush finish did just the opposite. It’s perfect for women wh0 have oily skin. I believe the shade I use “Cocoa Dark 3” is pretty popular because there’s always only 1-3 bottles left, so I purchase two at a time just in case 😉
I wear a pair of false lashes Every. Single. Day! When I started wearing lashes I would wear only the individuals UNTIL they pulled out the majority of my lashes ;( so I had to use an eyelash sermon to grow them back. A year later, I was back on my eyelash kick but this time only strip lashes. I started back in 2010 and would wear #28’s as my everyday lashes and #62’s were my going out glam lashes. One weekend while getting ready for a night on the town with my girls, I put on the #62 lashes and never turned back. I prefer the glam doll look every day and #62 lashes from a local beauty supply store give me that exact look I’m going for. I purchase in bulk so I never miss a day of glamour, lol!!
When it comes to my mani’s and pedi’s, I switch up as often as possible. The color I wear is really contingent upon my mood on. When I’m feeling doll-ish, I’d wear any color in the pink family, when I’m feeling glam, I’d wear a shade of red and when I’m feeling festive, I’d wear loud pops of color such as a neon yellow or a loud orange. I’ve been wearing my natural nails since 2009 and since then I’ve been doing them myself as well; saves me money & time! I have a mani/pedi set with all the tools and two nail dryers as well as a dresser full of colors, BUT I’m always buying more colors although I don’t have the room…I’m such a nail polish hoarder!
My favorite lipstick to wear when I’m feeling glam is Ruby Woo by MAC, it’s a beautiful Matte Red that looks really pretty on my skin tone. For an everyday look, I’d wear any shade of pink by any brand.
“A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future” Coco Chanel. I switch perfume as often as possible. Lately, my going out scent has been “Prada Candy” and my everyday run to the bookstore scent is “Viva la Juicy” by Juicy Couture. I believe you’re not fully dressed until you’re wearing perfume so I make sure I’m always carrying a bottle everywhere I go.
I like to experiment with different styles so I switch up my hair often. Here are a few I’ve tried lately.
When I find a good product that works for me, I tend to stick with it for years until I find something better but I’m always open to trying something new 😉
