Same Paris Different Hair

“When a woman cuts her hair, she’s about to change her life”-Coco Chanel

A few months ago I told myself I wanted to edge up my look a little bit and on last week I decided to start it off with my hair. The funny thing about it is, I wanted to try this style on last year around this time and longer on one side but after trying something else, I just gave up on wanting it. I called my hairstylist for a wash and style appointment and she convinced me to cut my hair and go back short. I believe short hair is my signature look. Styled differently but definitely short.

My hair grows really fast and I very seldom wear it out so I decided to give it a try. Initially, I wanted to add fake hair to the top but after she convinced me again, I’m now wearing all my real hair. I thought this style would be hard to manage and take up a lot of mirror time but it’s actually one of the easiest styles I’ve tried so far. Before bed, I brush down each side and pin curl the middle part before tying on a pink silk scarf.

I’m really into dressing up a casual t-shirt with a skirt that makes a statement. Ladies, this look is very easy to create. Just put on one of your simple t-shirts and leave your jeans in the closet. Show off those legs by wearing a cute that makes you feel Sexy & Classy, add a pair of heels, a handbag, and a few accessories; then you’re good to go.

This is a great lunch date or mall run look! You always want to look glam even if you’re out for a few hours, you never know who’s watching so dress up that T-shirt and go out and command attention.

What To Wear To The Hangover Brunch

Last Sunday my friends and I attended what The Hangover Brunch at Eiffel Society here in New Orléans 2040 St. Charles Ave. The ambiance was beautiful, the food was delicious and the movie The Hangover was playing on the big screen. It was from 11-5 and the day party started about 3 pm. It was life!!! After stuffing our faces and sipping on champagne and mimosa’s the DJ turned up New Orléans bounce music and everyone hit the dance floor! Talk about FUN!! I seriously didn’t want it to end but there’s always next month to continue the fun. And if you’re not certain on about what you should wear, I’m here to help!

So let’s get started, starting with myself. As we all know I’m a fan of mixing prints as I wore a nautical-inspired print dress one of my latest thrift store finds and my favorite floral Steve Madden ankle strap sandals. For my hair, I went for a simple pulled back look to show off more of my face. I wore simple stud earrings and a statement necklace from Classy Closet along with the (now sold out) Classy Closet Pink RichGirl Handbag & my statement LOVE ring is from F-21. I’m wearing a nude manicure and a hot pink pedicure both by Milani Nail Lacquer called “Vintage” and “Pink Pop.”

Face & Jewels!

Brunch dolls and I!

I pulled some Polyvore inspirations from my fabulous Instagram doll, Shundra. Her Polyvore is filled with so many beautiful styles & inspirations. She’s someone who’s definitely making a name for herself in the fashion industry & someone I’ll let style me any day (and I don’t say that often).

First Look: This is definitely my style! A Peplum top and a pencil skirt is effortlessly classy especially when you add mixed prints, a bold color lip and pumps, gold jewelry and a satchel handbag. This is a great look to go from brunch to a business meeting. It says I’VE ARRIVED & I’M HERE TO STAY!!!

Second Look: Rompers are always a good idea because it’s an easy item to style. Just add a pair of open toe sandals, a clutch & a statement belt to give your that hour-glass shape you’ve worked so hard on for the summer. Don’t forget simple accessories and a bold lip color then you’re brunch and day party ready.

Third Look: I love a good church look that can take you straight to brunch without having to go home and change. If you like, you can just remove the blazer for more of a laid back but still classy look. When accessorizing, you can never go wrong with a pair of pearls especially when it’s three string pearls (my personal favorite). Keep your other accessories simple because your pearls are the statement so a watch and a simple bow ring will do. Your handbag should always be a satchel or clutch with the kind of style and a pair of pumps with a bow on top just adds the finishing touches.

Fourth Look: It’s brunch so a floppy hat is definitely necessary. It adds a little something extra to your mixed print attire. Add a pair of pumps and a matching handbag to bring out the least amount of color in your wardrobe & gold simple accessories then you’re off to brunch to turn heads and answer questions about where you purchased this look.

Fifth Look: An A-line skirt is a wardrobe must-have for brunch. You can dress it up with a bow top or down with a t-shirt and let your accessories do the talking. I love how this Aldo Fennimore clutch & fun clashing print single sole sandal is offsetting this simple wardrobe. Pop it out with a bold lip color and simple accessories and then you’re on the move to brunch!!

♥ All these beautiful styles are from Shundra’s  Polyvore so if you like these you’ll love the others she has created. Check out her page here and read about her work here.

How To Know Your Personal Style.

Let’s talk about Personal Style. Do you know if you have one? What if someone asked you to describe your personal style in two words, what would you say? Would you stumble trying to find the right words to describe your style or would you simply be honest and say you don’t know? Well, for those of you who aren’t familiar with the term personal style here’s my personal definition:

Personal Style: Is knowing who you are & being confident by saying it loud & not being concerned with fitting in but rather standing out & making an individual name for yourself.

It’s all about getting to know yourself. Think about some of the things you wear that you feel really good about. How would you describe that style; Classy, Chic, or Edgy?

♥ A few of my favs 😉

My personal style is Sexy & Classy (hence the name of my blog) Sexy because I like to wear things that show off my curves and Classy because I don’t like to show too much. I prefer to leave a little mystery and I like for my skirts and dresses a certain length. I developed my personal style simply by knowing what I was comfortable with wearing and wearing it confidently. My style depends on my mood and where I’m going. Currently, I’m blogging from a coffee shop wearing an open grey cardigan with a white camisole underneath, snakeskin tights and a pair of gold flip-flops. I’m wearing simple accessories such as my Eiffel tower necklace, Michael Kors watch and stud earrings. This is just a simple coffee shop look. I knew I’d be here for a while and just wanted to go for a chic and comfortable look. So yes, at times your style can change depending on how you’re feeling. Sometimes I’m Sexy & Classy in a coffee shop if I’m doing something special before or afterward or if I’m just in the mood to feel glam and sip a Frappuccino.

Wal-Mart Jeans

I always get lots of compliments on these jeans and I’m not sure if I blogged about them already but recently I posted this picture on my Instagram page and everyone loved them. So here’s the rundown on the distressed jeans everyone loves. I purchased them about 4 years ago at a Wal-Mart in Mankato, Minnesota (I was a resident there) from the Miley Cyrus by Max Azria line and I loved them dearly. I normally wear a size 3 but these are a 7, so clearly these jeans weren’t designed for women with curves BUT nevertheless, I had to have them. I’m only 4’10 and I’m very particular about having extra slack in my jeans so I took them to a tailor in Minnesota and she cut them way too short to wear un-cuffed but when it comes to fashion, I always find a way to wear what I love. I just simply wear them cuffed when I’m wearing heels or un-cuffed when I’m wearing boots.

On this day I was on set styling and I wanted to add a little edge to my look so I paired my jeans with a crop top from H&M, ankle strap sandals from Just Fab and accessorize with Classy Closet’s Gold link Bracelet and Pink RichGirl Handbag. I had so much fun on set styling while feeling fab in my distressed jeans.

Classy Closet Fashion Magazine Crop Top & Pencil Skirt

Who said you couldn’t wear a fashion magazine and look fabulous while doing so?! Well, if someone did, clearly they’re wrong. You can now get this look from Classy Closet. I’m in love with the crop top and pencil skirt style so you know I had to add it to my online women’s boutique. It took me a while to find something that was sexy, classy and not very trendy and I finally came across this set. The material is 95% polyester and 5% Spandex so it’s a good fit to show off your curves. I fell in love with this set because it’s on trend without being overly trendy and it has fashion magazines all over (one may argue that it’s newspaper) which is what I spend majority of my time reading and collecting, so why not share the style that I LOVE so much with my Classy Closet Dolls.

Hope you like this set as much as I do and if so, be sure to shop Classy Closet. Send me all your fabulous pics to or hashtag #ClassyClosetDoll on Instagram and I’ll be sure to repost your pictures to our Classy Closet Instagram page. By the way, are you following us on IG? Festival Fashion At Langford Market

It’s festival season here in New Orleans so I decided to head over to Langford Market to check out some of the new festival styles. Discussing fashion and style is always fun and it’s even more exciting when the store manager, Tanyell let’s you in all the new arrivals. Check out the video and let me know what you think.

Pointy Toe Pumps & Jeans

A pair of jeans and pointy toe points has been my go-to attire during those busy days when I have a planner full of goals to accomplish. I like to keep my look glam but comfortable so I can make my meetings on time without being slowed down by painful heels so, these Prabal Gurung pumps were perfect. I added glam to my look by accessorizing with the Keep It Classy necklace and the Let’s Link Up bracelet both from Classy Closet.

I was treated to a shopping spree at H&M and picked up this off-white blouse (which I see myself pairing with leather really soon) and this amazing baby blue handbag (I receive so many compliments on this bag). I’m in the process of editing a haul video of everything I picked up at H&M. Pray for me because final cut pro and I aren’t best friends at all, lol! But I’ll have it up as soon as possible.

What’s your go-to style when you’re headed out for the day with a lot of things to do?!

Bridge House/Grace House Fashion Show

Bridge House / Grace House, a non-profit substance abuse treatment facility hosted its “5th Annual Recycled Fashion Show”, which was back by popular demand & I was so happy to be a part of such a memorable night. The festive event featured local designers who created fashions from Bridge House / Grace House Thrift Store purchases and transform them into haute couture, or ready-to-wear. These high fashion designs were auctioned off during the evening. Proceeds from the fundraising event are used to support the organization’s substance abuse treatment program.

I was so grateful for my model who was eager to wear my designs at such a last minute.

Check out how I STYLED her in majority thrift store purchases 😉

She’s wearing a vintage black and silver midi sequin dress with broad shoulders and a sexy back out. I completed her look with a sequin silver clutch and open toe strap around the ankle high heels.

For her second look, she wore a yellow vintage blazer with broad shoulders and gold button details I paired her look with a lime green statement necklace to match the classic peplum pencil skirt. She’s also wearing a multi-color chiffon vintage blouse and sexy cobalt blue booties to match her statement clutch.

Her skirt is last season from Classy Closet.

Before heading to the runway, we decided to pair her vintage sequin dress with a pair of red mary jane’s to make a statement!

After the fashion show hanging out with the emcee’s Jennifer Hale & Chet Pourciau.

My midi denim pencil skirt is available in Classy Closet.

How did you like her style? For her first look, I wanted to go for more of a Couture classy style and the second look was more of a ready to wear fresh of the runway style. I found the majority of the entire wardrobe from the thrift store. Goes to show you, you can look fab without breaking the bank. Believe me, you’ll look great with anything with confidence and a smile.
