Handling Haters in a Classy Way!! ;)

HOW TO HANDLE HATER

By: Maya Angelou

A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look small so they can look tall.

They are very negative people, to say the least. Nothing is ever good enough!

When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters…

That’s why you have to be careful with whom you share your blessings and your dreams because some folk can’t handle seeing you blessed…

It’s dangerous to be like somebody else… If God wanted you to be like somebody else, He would have given you what He gave them! Right?

You never know what people have gone through to get what they have…

The problem I have with haters is that they see my glory, but they don’t know my story…

If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too!

We’ve all got some haters among us! Some people envy you because you can:

a) Have a relationship with God

b) Light up a room when you walk in

c) Start your own business

d) Tell a man/woman to hit the curb (if he/she isn’t about the right thing)

e) Raise your children without both parents being in the home

Haters can’t stand to see you happy.

Haters will never want to see you succeed.

Most of our haters are people who are supposed to be on our side.

How do you handle your undercover haters?

You can handle these haters by:

1. Knowing who you are & who your true friends are *(VERY IMPORTANT!!)

2. Having a purpose to your life: Purpose does not mean having a job. You can have a job and still be unfulfilled. A purpose is having a clear sense of what God has called you to be. Your purpose is not defined by what others think about you.

3. By remembering what you have is by divine prerogative and not human manipulation.

Fulfill your dreams! You only have one life to live…when it’s your time to leave this earth, you ‘want’ to be able to say, ‘I’ve lived my life and fulfilled ‘my’ dreams,… Now I’m ready to go HOME!

When God gives you favor, you can tell your haters, ‘Don’t look at me…Look at Who is in charge of me…AMEN!!!

I advise anyone who reads this to use these words of wisdom to heal your heart / give you the courage to go on. Do not use it to strike at your haters, or with that purpose in mind, instead, share this poem with a person who can appreciate and cherish this poem.

Speaking at a Women’s Empowerment Seminar!!

Last week I was invited to speak at a Women’s Empowerment Seminar about Fashion and Style. It was my first time speaking at a seminar, but I wasn’t nervous at all. I’m guessing because I was very confident and familiar with the topic. I spoke about Wardrobe Essentials every woman should own and dressing for your body type. I had a great time. I was happy to see how interested the ladies were in learning more about Fashion & Style. Afterward, I spoke with a few ladies about wanting to revamp their closets and giving them fashion tips. The seminar was really great and I can’t wait until the next time I’m invited back.

Quote & Text From Chris! :)

If you know me, you know I lovvveee quotes! I have so many written in my journal and saved on my phone. I also purchased books with motivational, spiritual, and life changing quotes. My old roommate Chris in Minnesota sent this quote and message to me via text and while living in Minn, he made this motivational note for me and taped it to our front door to remind me where I’ll be. I still haven’t given up on moving there, and I believe one day, it will come true. I fell in ♥ with the whole message; it couldn’t have come at a better time…and I RECEIVE IT that one day I will!! 😉

Text from Chris:

Quote- Faith is asking yourself and believing the answer. Love it and I knew that you would love this one also. This is one of those quotes that as soon as I read it, I thought of you and pictured you saying in your reassuring and comforting voice to someone who was deaf before due to not listening but can now hear what your saying girl! Oh boy I feel like God is speaking to me to go out and spread this quote to whoever will listen and I honestly feel that somehow this quote is something God is using to spread hope through us. I can’t quite explain how I totally feel but a greater power is amongst us and Paris I don’t know how but I just know something big and insightful/religious/life-changing is going to happen to you. Jesus is going to take your soul and raise it up high for everyone to see and your pureness is going to shine in the darkest of people’s fears and doubts. I don’t know if this is real or if you believe me but that’s what I just felt. And I miss you! I may have just gone crazy for a moment there. Who knows? JESUS CHRIST DOES!!

Thank you Chris!!!

*Update: I did move to LA in 2016 and stayed there for 1 1/2. Write the vision and make it plain. Dreams are real. What you speak shall happen. What you put your faith in will happen, all you have to do is do the work and BELIEVE! 😉

Make Good Decisions.

Sometimes in life situations come your way, and when it does, you just have to make good decisions. With that being said, I’ll be moving back to New Orleans soon. It’s kind of a bittersweet moment for me because from here I wanted to move to California. One of the first things I thought about was changing the introduction on my blog as if it was never in the plans, but I’m a human first and for most so there’s no need to cover up my plans when they don’t transpire AT THAT TIME. I have a lot I would like to accomplish in life and at this moment moving back home would be the SMARTEST option for me. This is a sweet moment for me as well because I’m moving back in with my parents and that means FREE RENT! HOME COOKED MEALS! DVR! & MORE CLOSET SPACE…LOL! *Just joking* moving home gives me the clear mindset and freedom that I need to study for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). Becoming a lawyer has ALWAYS been a dream of mine. I can still remember being a little girl and people asking “What would you like to become when you grow up” and me responding “A Lawyer.” Since this was my first and only goal for a while, I’m going to do the best I can by turning my dream and something that I’m most passionate about into reality. I’ve learned that life is all about choices and the direction of our lives come down to the choices we choose. Therefore, whatever that choice may be, balance it out so that it works for you! I was thinking about giving up on my blog since I’m not moving to Cali but this has been something I’ve always wanted to do before I decided I wanted to move, so giving up on it is a NO, NO! As people down south would say, “One monkey doesn’t stop a show.” I hope I’ve inspired someone to go after their dreams and realize that it’s okay to have a plan B and C. You only live once so live it by doing what YOU’VE always wanted to do! Take risks, Step out on faith, Laugh, Learn, Be creative, Follow your heart, Fall in love, Make mistakes, Take every opportunity that comes your way, Pray, Plan, Take your time, Invest, Speak up & speak out, Make your own footprints, Respect others, Motivate others, Believe in yourself, Let go, Feed the homeless, Dream, Go after what you want, Say yes & say no, Do what is right, & Volunteer. Whatever you choose to do, do it because you want to, regardless of what others may think or say about you, your happiness is what matters most, and all other things are secondary!!! 😉

♥ I’m home now and loving life!! I arrived on Tuesday, had an interview on Wednesday and was offered the job on the spot. God is good!! 😉

*Update: In 2016 I moved to Cali for a 1 and 6 months and 6 days. 😉 The best times of my life. I grew mentally + spiritually.

Welcome to "Where Sexy Meets Classy"!!! ;-)

Hola everyone!! Welcome to my blog, and thank you so much for visiting. This has been one of my MANY dreams, and after late nights and early mornings of studying fashion and other people’s blogs, I finally have one of my own!!! ;). I came up with the title “Where Sexy Meets Classy,” because I wanted something that describes my style and the way I perpetuate each look. With this blog, I plan to keep you updated on my latest styles, looks for less, daily happens in my life, and much, much more. Just to let you know a little about the woman behind the screen. I’m a 23-year-old graduate student from New Orleans, La. & currently reside in Mankato, MN for graduate school, while planning a move to California. At this point in my life, I prefer to live where there’s LIFE in the city. I’m talking beaches and boutiques type of life, YEAH! Now that’s my type of scenery I would like to experience daily!!! While in Cali, I’ll be interning as a fashion stylist, and from then, I believe the sky is the limit. Don’t be surprised if you see me on the cover of Vogue, Elle, Essence, Cosmopolitan, Jet, or Glamour *just to name a few* Nevertheless, I’ll be doing what I love to do best, and that’s living, eating, and breathing FASHION!!! Once again, thank you so much for visiting and make sure you stop by daily to see just how Sexy Meets Classy!! *Smooches*
