Where In The World Is Paris M. Hatcher?!

Long time no see! A lot has happened within the past two months personally and professionally. Let’s see! Where should I start…

I finally came up with a blog schedule. I seriously was overdoing it. One day a week I was trying my best to write at least 3 to 5 blog posts and then schedule them out so each time you’d come back and see something new. Well, that was going good until I went back to work and had to balance everything. So now, I’m trying to push out at least 1 post a week… I can do that especially since I call my notes in from my sessions and don’t have to type them up myself. Notes?! Sessions?! Some of you may or may not know this but I am a Mental Health Advocate and on average, I am counseling at least 5-7 clients per day and after each session, I have to type up a detailed note/report stating what happened during the session. I love my job but writing notes can be draining on top of trying to maintain a blog and a personal life so I invested in a note writer. I call my notes in and speak about what was accomplished during the sessions via voicemail and the note writer types up everything in a professional manner and input them into the system. It’s a fee but I’d rather have time to make more money instead of money and no time to do anything. It works for me and it’s not too expensive because if I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t have time to do much of anything let alone blog one day a week.

So let’s see, what’s next! I’ve been praying over my purpose and vision for my life. Getting on my knees to say my prayers, writing in my prayer and gratitude journal and meditating. I haven’t been as consistent as I’d like to be in the gym but that’s okay because tomorrow morning I’m going. Last week I was just really sick and couldn’t do much of anything.

Let’s see what have I learned…that I could be a people pleaser, I care way too much about other people’s feelings and I tend to put mines on the back burner. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing but when it gets in the way of your own happiness or what you want to do, it can be. So when you make a decision to do something don’t allow anyone to talk you out of it. It’s hard especially when you care about a person but sometimes you have to take the focus off them and their feelings and put it on you and be good with that! I just want everyone to be happy…is that too much to ask for?

Ummm…what else! Overall, I am very proud of myself. I’m proud of my growth in all areas of my life. I can honestly say that I’ve leveled up and stepped up with taking care of things in our home since my dad passed in 2018. Since then, I’ve doubled his monthly income and now I’m taking care of all the household bills (such an adult moment) my mom doesn’t work because she doesn’t have to. She’s good and I’m happy she’s living her life being happy and strong. She spends the majority of her time going to the thrift store, running errands, getting her nails & hair did and everything else she wants to do. I’m proud of her and I know my dad is too. She’s now accustomed to driving her car (remember I bought her a car in Nov) if you missed it, read about it here. I plan to take her on a trip before the summer is over to see family in Dallas. We just came back from visiting family in Houston about two weeks ago. Maybe in the Fall, we will hop on a flight to NYC or LA or maybe a weekend cruise. She’ll be getting her passport next month. In the meantime, read about our travels here and here.

Other than that, everything is everything! I want to start doing more videos and I will, simple as that. I may turn this site into a video blog. Let me know what you all think. I also took a social media break but I’ll be back this week. Be on the lookout for a detailed post about what happens and what I tend to do during my breaks. I briefly touched on digital detoxing here, here, and here so be sure to catch up on those posts if you haven’t already.

Until next Wednesday!!! See ya and thanks for being a loyal reader and sticking with me until I figured this out! 🙂

A Dream Car, Come True!

This past Saturday, I brought my mom her dream car. This has been something I’ve always said I’ll do and finally, I DID IT. My mom LOVES Volkswagen Beetles and to finally be in the position to bless her with her dream car was a dream come true for me as well. I say it was a dream come true for me because I wasn’t always in the position to bless her with a car, let along her dream car. We would see this car often while out together and one of us would point it out and say something positive about it. She would say, “Oh look at my car. I just love it” and I’d say something like “I’m going to get that car for you momma. It looks just like you.” In addition to seeing it so many times and me coming to the realization that we both need a car, not just me, I decided to get it for her.

Being able to put smiles on my loved ones faces by blessing them makes me SO happy. This is what it’s about for me. I truly believe that we are blessed to be a blessing to others.

I would also like to point out an important part of this post and it’s simply saying, don’t give up on things that seem to be too big at the moment. Any and everything that you dream to be possible for yourself can become your reality. As cliché as it may sound, it’s definitely possible. BUT what it will take is work along with mindset shifting. I could say this to you all day but if you aren’t working towards it and if you feel as if it’s not possible for you, well it won’t be, simple as that.

The funniest part was getting her to drive her dream car off the lot. It’s a push to start, has Bluetooth, heated seats, a sunroof etc. and I believe all of that intimidated her at first but now, she’s comfortable and driving it around looking cute! Sidenote: My dad use to always drive her around that’s what she meant in the video when she said, “you know your dad wouldn’t want that” LOL!

What you can do to start doing the work on believing:

  1. Start by getting crystal clear on what you want.
  2. Write it down.
  3. Put money to the side if what you want will cost money.
  4. Speak positively about it. Imagine yourself with it.
  5. And lastly, you have to WORK. Nothing drops out of the sky for anyone.

The Key Word Is Preparation

I wanted to share this here because I received so many direct messages after I shared it on my Instagram stories and it’ll be deleted within 24 hours. One today, I shared how I contacted my mother’s life insurance company to ensure I was listed as a beneficiary. I found out that I wasn’t because it was a policy my dad set up for her when he was here so naturally, he added himself as the only beneficiary on the plan as she was for him. If you’re not familiar with my story, my father was called home to be with the Lord this year in April. My mom was the only beneficiary on his policy but I handled everything on her behalf. I am my mother’s only child so I am the go-to person for all things related to finances, investments, etc., a role that I love and take very seriously.

Furthermore, the reason for this post is to shine a light on the word preparation. Are you prepared for life’s unfortunate situations? When I say prepared I mean do you have a life insurance policy? If so, do you know the policy amount? Are you familiar with the type of life insurance policy you have? Do you know if you’re listed as a beneficiary on your parent’s or your spouse’s policy? If not, find out who’s listed and think about if that person is one of the responsible siblings/family members. Now is the time to start asking your family members if they’re covered. Also, be sure to find out if there’s a Will in place. All of these things are so important to familiarize yourself with now instead of when it’s too late. No matter how we are living today, unfortunately, death will come but the best thing you can do for yourself and your family is to ensure your affairs are in order. This post isn’t to sell you on anything, this is simply to inform you that it’s time to wake up and pay attention to details.

Paris Takes The DMV: With My Mom

Earlier this year I booked a trip for me and my parents to visit the African American Museum in D.C. for my dad’s birthday. But, after he passed away, I canceled the flights. On their anniversary June 19th, I decided to rebook the tickets and make it a girl’s trip! We had a blast!!! I didn’t know my mom was that much fun. God knew what he was doing when he made her my mom because we would stay in trouble if she was one of my girlfriends. Here’s to more trips around the world! We’re keeping his memory alive by enjoying life and thanking God for an amazing husband and father.

Family Vacation: Paris Takes Panama City, Florida.

♥ I had so much fun this past weekend. My parents and I spent Labor Day weekend in Panama City, Florida, which is six hours away from New Orleans, LA. We hit the road on Friday evening after my parents got off work. I drove for about 30 minutes then my dad took over while my mom and I relaxed and enjoyed the different views from state to state. This was a much-needed vacay for all of us, mainly them (I still haven’t fully recovered from Antigua, but I’m always up for a vacay) because they work so much and needed a weekend to get away and have some fun, which I believe is essential to life. We had a great time and are in the works of planning our next family vacay. Just being together every day, relaxing on the beach and sightseeing made us so happy.

My Family + A $7.99 Dress… The Keys To My Heart!

Here are a few pics of my family and I after church. I wore a dress I purchased a few years ago for a great price of 7.99 from F21. It was on the clearance rack and my size!! I was ecstatic! Since this dress is sleeveless I paired it with a waist length blazer to make it church appropriate. I wore my three-string pearls and added a brooch to my blazer to give it more life! I also wore these really cool ruffle heels I purchased from buffalo exchange for fewer than 20 bucks. This is a great dress to wear as 9-5 work attire including the blazer and a 5-9 after work happy hour dress without the blazer. Now you have an all around dress for only 7.99!!!

Make Good Decisions.

Sometimes in life situations come your way, and when it does, you just have to make good decisions. With that being said, I’ll be moving back to New Orleans soon. It’s kind of a bittersweet moment for me because from here I wanted to move to California. One of the first things I thought about was changing the introduction on my blog as if it was never in the plans, but I’m a human first and for most so there’s no need to cover up my plans when they don’t transpire AT THAT TIME. I have a lot I would like to accomplish in life and at this moment moving back home would be the SMARTEST option for me. This is a sweet moment for me as well because I’m moving back in with my parents and that means FREE RENT! HOME COOKED MEALS! DVR! & MORE CLOSET SPACE…LOL! *Just joking* moving home gives me the clear mindset and freedom that I need to study for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). Becoming a lawyer has ALWAYS been a dream of mine. I can still remember being a little girl and people asking “What would you like to become when you grow up” and me responding “A Lawyer.” Since this was my first and only goal for a while, I’m going to do the best I can by turning my dream and something that I’m most passionate about into reality. I’ve learned that life is all about choices and the direction of our lives come down to the choices we choose. Therefore, whatever that choice may be, balance it out so that it works for you! I was thinking about giving up on my blog since I’m not moving to Cali but this has been something I’ve always wanted to do before I decided I wanted to move, so giving up on it is a NO, NO! As people down south would say, “One monkey doesn’t stop a show.” I hope I’ve inspired someone to go after their dreams and realize that it’s okay to have a plan B and C. You only live once so live it by doing what YOU’VE always wanted to do! Take risks, Step out on faith, Laugh, Learn, Be creative, Follow your heart, Fall in love, Make mistakes, Take every opportunity that comes your way, Pray, Plan, Take your time, Invest, Speak up & speak out, Make your own footprints, Respect others, Motivate others, Believe in yourself, Let go, Feed the homeless, Dream, Go after what you want, Say yes & say no, Do what is right, & Volunteer. Whatever you choose to do, do it because you want to, regardless of what others may think or say about you, your happiness is what matters most, and all other things are secondary!!! 😉

♥ I’m home now and loving life!! I arrived on Tuesday, had an interview on Wednesday and was offered the job on the spot. God is good!! 😉

*Update: In 2016 I moved to Cali for a 1 and 6 months and 6 days. 😉 The best times of my life. I grew mentally + spiritually.
