Reader’s E-mail: My Suggestions On Starting A Styling Business.

Hey Paris,
I’m NEW to this styling thing. However, I’ve been in love with fashion my whole life & have decided to turn my passion into my career. I have BIG dreams & goals. I admire your style, ambition, determination, & most of all your spirit & love for God! So my question for you is do you have ANY advice on where to start??? I KNOW that God is going to prosper my business & once it finally takes off I’m going to hit the ground running. However, lol right now I feel like I’m all over the place!! & just need a “starting point” if that’s a word to use for it. What are your suggestions on starting out? What are some things you wouldn’t suggest doing? What are some of the things that you placed at the top of your “to do” list? Your advice is GREATLY appreciated =).
Thanks and have a blessed day!

Hi Jessie
Thank you so much for reaching out to me to give you guidance on starting out on your new and prosperous career path. There are many ways to start off but here are a few ways I found beneficial. I keep a fashion journal full of fashion ideas such as what I would like to do, where I would like to be, and how I can get there. Something that I placed on top of my to-do list is to always write all my goals down. This has helped me not only to remember my next goal but also to actually see how far I’ve come and given myself credit for making progress. Depending on where you live, things may be a little slow but don’t allow that to stop you; keep working hard towards your goals. Don’t let a day go by without working towards your goals, whether it’s reaching out to someone or simply doing research; ALWAYS DO SOMETHING! This all starts with you! You have to sell yourself to the world! Be your own walking billboard and you will receive clients by simply looking as if you are a stylist. Also, if you haven’t already, make sure you have business cards made. People aren’t going to take you seriously calling yourself a stylist without cards, it’s professional and it shows that you’re serious. I hope I was able to help you. Please do not hesitate to email me again if you have any other questions. I would like to know how your business is coming along so send me an email letting me know about that as well. Thanks, again!
Peace & Blessings,
Paris
