First off I want to say that I LOVE your blog!!! 😀 Ever since I saw your feature on the Fashion Bomb Daily I have been addicted to your site and I feel I can look up to you fashion wise because you’re fashionable and small. (I’m 5’1!) I am emailing you because I’m in college and I feel like I have hit a creative fashion wall. Since you are a stylist, who better to come to. My style is a bit everywhere. I don’t like to be boxed in or just follow trends. I tend to gravitate towards tight fitting clothes but I’m trying to broaden my fashion horizon. I think I may want to start thrifting, a lot of people I know thrift and they find great things at low prices but I don’t know where to get started. Help, please!! 😀
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your email and love for my blog, I really appreciate it!! 😉 I like what you said about you not wanting to be boxed in and follow a trend, that’s a great way to start especially when you’re trying to find your personal style. My best advice to you would be to wear what you feel comfortable in. If it’s tight-fitting clothes, wear it! I also like to wear fitting clothes to show off my figure. But if you want to broaden your fashion horizon, try flowy tops and flowy skirts but never together because you also want to have balance in your ensemble. You should also start by purchasing staple pieces such as blazers, a nice fitted pair of jeans that you can wear with pumps or boots, skirts of all styles you prefer also dressy and casual tops with & without prints. Your shoes are contingent on your comfort level. Purchase nude and black pumps, you’ll see that these two will come in handy. Be sure to incorporate animal print and cold colors in your shoe collection as well. Your handbags should always be a statement piece that you can see yourself mixing and matching with a variety of outfits. Also, clutches are a must-have in print and colors. For your accessories, the three main kinds you’ll need is pearl, gold, and silver. Start off with these first but don’t forget about the colorful bold statement necklaces, rings, and earrings. We have a lot of statement pieces in Classy Closet.
Thrifting is one of my favorite things to do, one of my dreams is to go on a month long road trip around the world and visit different thrift stores. I really think you should start, you can find A LOT of cool pieces at great prices. Just remember when you go to think outside the box, take your time, and broaden your horizons. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Please let me know what you find and be sure to send me pictures I would like to see how you’re coming along with finding your personal style.
Peace & Blessings,
